Fintech and Innovation-driven Financial Services

Regulatory Committee on Fintech and Innovation-driven Financial Services to be set up

 

The Government of Mauritius has made it clear that there is a big drive to develop Fintech in Mauritius.  According to the Government Information Service news published on the Republic of Mauritius website on the 2nd of February 2018, a Fintech and Innovation-driven Financial Services will be set up to assist in paving the way for appropriate regulatory frameworks for encouraging and supporting the development of Fintech in Mauritius.

 

Lord Meghnad Desai and Lord St John of Bletso of the House of Lords will lead this committee to assess the current regulatory set up with regards to Fintech and Innovation-driven Financial Services Regulations in Mauritius.  They will also make recommendations on the need to introduce new sets of regulations for Fintech and Innovation.

 

Further, it will identify priory areas within the regulatory space of Fintech activities, advise on drafting of regulation and guidelines by segment of activities and in which way Mauritius nees to adapt itself for the benefit of its financial sector.
